We’ve opened! 🎉
We can’t believe the reception we’ve had so far after just one week. It is honestly amazing to hear from you all what it means to start something like this in Stevenage. For so long, it has been just us talking about the cafe and sharing ideas. Because of that, we wanted to share a little from behind the scenes on what we’ve been talking about.
Our upcoming plans
- We will be closed on Wednesday 21 August (at least for the morning) due to some urgent works that will be carried out in the stall.
- We are working on getting a phone/number so we can start taking collection orders. Keep an eye out for updates about it!
What we’ve learned
- Even the best laid plans need back up plans. And those back up plans probably also need a back up plan…
- Jenn is much better at taking card payments than Faiq. 😅
- We do need a way to display the food we have on offer and are working on it.
Answers to your feedback & questions
- The menu is small/limited
- We are limited with what we can offer because at the moment we cannot cook curries or fry things in the space. We always planned to keep the menu simple and focus on providing quality over variety. To keep things interesting we plan on changing the menu on a seasonal basis. While the Chikkar cholay will remain as a main for the next menu, we will make a couple of changes and hopefully introduce another dish along with some more teas.
- The colour on the Kulcha should be darker/they should be thicker
- We’ve taken this one on board! We have made a couple changes so the breads will be a touch thicker. They will also be more golden in colour. 💛
We are excited to see what this week brings and are already preparing to open again. 🫶
