This past weekend we had a stall at the Summer Fun Day with the Stevenage Mosque. It was a lovely experience and we are grateful for the opportunity to be able to get out and start sharing some of what we will be selling once the cafe opens. We also learned a lot and are already thinking about things we can improve on and what might be helpful for us once we are actually officially open.
Admittedly this was probably the first time we’ve cooked such a large portion of food at once. It is much different to cooking for family & friends. We have some things that didn’t go so well and luckily figured out what we need to do different next time. We also were pleased that other things did go well – so we just have to do more of that. 😆
As it is, we are starting from almost nothing and the support that people have already shown is amazing. We are so glad to see that others are just as excited about a South Asian breakfast place opening in Stevenage. More often than not, we are hearing about how people are going up to Luton or down to North London to get something similar. And while we hope that you will come to us for your cup of chai – we also hope to build something with the Stevenage community.

Looking forward, the next two weeks will be very busy getting everything together. Thankfully, we are done with painting the giant brick wall but there is still some painting to be done on the outside. We’ve got some minor works planned and soon we’ll be installing the counters and moving furniture in. Hopefully everything will line up and we can be open in the first week of August. Keep an eye out for the official announcement! 💛
